What’s Taught
After-school programs provide a great environment for inquiry-based science, allowing children to explore and investigate freely and creatively. Science is a way of thinking and finding out about the world, not just a collection of facts. By engaging in AfterSchool KidzScience activities, children discover important science concepts that will support them in school and in life. We hope children leave AfterSchool KidzScience sessions thinking, “Science is cool and I can do it!”
Each AfterSchool KidzScience kit focuses on helping children understand one or two science concepts. Leaders use hands-on activities to give children experience with important science concepts. These investigations also give children opportunities to learn about what scientists do and to use science inquiry skills themselves.
